Porcelain and composite veneers

Veneers are the perfect answer for those who want a dazzling, white, straighter beautiful smile

So which are better - composite veneers or porcelain veneers?

The most popular type of veneers are porcelain, which offer a stronger and more durable alternative to its composite counterpart. Composite veneers are also more prone to staining and do not last as long as porcelain veneers which also offer a more natural looking, translucent tooth-like appearance. Composite veneers are cheaper than porcelain veneers in general, but considering that they do not last as long and need replacing more often they could end up costing more in the long run.

Crowns and bridges CAPTEK

Captek™ is a unique material with unique qualities, unknown in any other dental material. It is composed of only high noble metals such as Gold, Platinum and Palladium. Its unmatched composition and structure allows Captek™ to exhibit characteristics that are exclusive to it.

Captek™ is a highly biocompatible crown, designed to look naturally beautiful, strong and durable, and still be a healthy choice for your mouth.

Captek crowns will not create a dark gingival line around them. The dark shadow seen when using conventional metal copings is a result of oxide formation. Captek does not produce any oxides, therefore will not create dark shadowing around it. The Captek metal has a goldish color to it, giving a warmer, more pleasant edge to the crown, then conventional metals which are grey in color.

Around the Captek margins there has been proven to be less bacterial accumulation then around natural teeth or other crown systems. Clinically it is evident that there is less gingival inflammation compare to any other crown system.

Captek is fabricated solely from precious metals, which do not react in the oral environment. There are no oxide formations by the Captek metal, no oxides to penetrate the surrounding gingiva. The Captek coping will not create a reaction in the gingiva, there will not be a darken line around it.

All-porcelain crowns

The all-porcelain crown allows the color of the original tooth underneath to shine through. These crowns have the advantage of being truly translucent, and show no metal at the gum line. They are the closest thing to the ideal enamel replacement that modern dentistry has yet invented. While they are not as strong as porcelain fused to metal crowns, their technology has improved over the years to the point where they are many times stronger than they used to be. These crowns look quite natural since they transmit some of the color of the underlying dentin. This can sometimes be a disadvantage if the underlying core is seriously discolored. The all-porcelain crowns are the ideal decision for single tooth recover in front areas, where the perfect match with the neighbouring teeth is needed.

Zirconium crowns and bridges

The newest type of crown is one made with a zirconium oxide (zirconia) ceramic coping underlying a porcelain "veneer". The zirconia coping is made on a computerized milling machine and is very strong. It has the added advantage of being fabricated to match the shade of the ideal tooth core. In other words, this type of crown looks quite natural, no matter how discolored the original tooth was. The zirconia ceramic is nearly as strong as the metal coping used in the porcelain fused to metal crowns, but with no metal underneath the porcelain, these crowns are more translucent and have better light transmitting properties. The strength of the coping makes this type of restoration suite suitable for posterior teeth as well as anterior teeth.

The advantages of our All- Ceramic Zirconia Crown & Bridge are:

  • Superior translucent natural looking aesthetics
  • No ‘black gum line’ that can occur with other crowns
  • Outstanding marginal fit
  • Less sensitive in the mouth
  • Superior strength and high fracture resistance
  • Zirconium framework available in 16 Vita shades
  • Suitable for full arch bridge restorations
